Process & Policies
At Pets Are Inn, we provide a caring and personalized alternative to traditional kennels. Your pet is placed in the home of a carefully screened and loving host family, never in a cage or kennel environment. Our host families provide individual attention, companionship, exercise, and the comfort of a home setting.
The only time your pet will be in a kennel or crate is if you provide one for sleeping or temporary confinement when unattended.
Our host families do their best to ensure your pet feels loved, comfortable, and well cared for because we know your pet is a cherished member of your family.
How It Works
To provide the highest level of care, we follow a structured process:
Reservations are required
- We recommend booking as early as possible, especially during holidays and peak seasons
Phone Interview (Honest and thorough responses help us select the most ideal host family for your pet)
- A 10-15 minute phone consultation will be conducted to gather details about your pet’s:
- Personality and behavior
- Daily routines and preferences
- Special needs (medication, dietary instructions, etc.)
- Rates vary by type of pet
- For dogs, rates are based on age and weight
- Rates are calculated daily, with half-day charges applied to afternoon pickups or morning returns
- Additional charges may apply for:
- Extra-special care
- Pets that are not spayed or neutered
Transportation
- Pets Are Inn provides mandatory, round-trip transportation between your home and the host family’s
- Each office sets its own pick-up and drop-off times, including limited Sunday service
Deposit
- A $50 non-refundable and non-transferable deposit per pet is required for:
- First-time clients
- New pets
- Peak-season reservations
- This deposit is applied to your final bill and can be paid by Visa, American Express or MasterCard
Changes & Cancellations
- Each office maintains its own policies regarding reservation changes or cancellations
- Please contact your local office directly for details
Vaccination Requirements
We require that all pets are up to date on their vaccinations. We verify these records directly with your veterinarian.
Required Vaccines:
- DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)
- Rabies (for both cats and dogs)
- PARVO
Recommended:
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
If your pet has known allergies to certain vaccines, we will accept titers test results as an alternative. Please allow approximately 6 weeks for titers testing to be completed.
In Case of Illness
While every effort is made to ensure your pet’s safety and wellness, medical situations can arise. In such cases:
- We will first contact your designated veterinarian
- If urgent care is needed, we will consult with a nearby emergency veterinary clinic affiliated with our network
- Pets Are Inn maintains relationships with highly qualified veterinary professionals, ensuring 24-hour access to care if needed
Please also provide a local emergency contact, especially if you are traveling internationally or will not have reliable phone/email access.
